How do I fit the Window Blockouts onto my window?Updated a month ago
TIPS & TRICKS
- Depending on the size of your window, installation may require two people and a few attempts to get the positioning just right.
- Applying the blinds is similar to putting on wallpaper, wall decals, or book contact. It’s important not to rush. Apply slowly and carefully, smoothing out any air bubbles as you peel away the backing.
- Apply the blind from the top of the window down. Use a credit card, window squeegee, or rolled-up towel to press and smooth the blind as you go, ensuring no air pockets remain.
Clean Windows Are Essential:
- Start by wiping the window with water to remove dust, grime, residue, or mould.
- Then clean thoroughly with Windex or a similar window-cleaning product.
- Ensure the window is completely dry before applying the blinds — no streaks or leftover residue.
Other Tips:
- If windows are in direct sunlight or warm conditions, allow an extra 0.5cm clearance all the way around to account for shrinkage.
- High heat, humidity, or direct sunlight can affect how well the blinds stick and may lead to shrinkage or peeling.
- Very cold conditions and condensation can also impact adhesion. Use caution near heaters or windows that fog up.
Please Note:
These blinds will not adhere to windows with tint, glaze, or textured surfaces.
Customers should evaluate their window before purchase to ensure compatibility.
Storage & Reuse:
If taking the blinds down for storage, ensure they are cleaned first or cleaned again before reapplying.
Dust or residue left on the blinds can affect reapplication.
Air Bubbles:
Small bubbles on the outside (facing the glass) are normal and will not affect adhesion.
Large bubbles or bunching on the inside (facing the room) mean the blind must be reapplied, or it may fall.
These blinds are best left in place long-term. Frequent removal and reapplication is not recommended.
If you’re looking for a blind that can be removed daily to let light in, this product may not be suitable for your needs.
